Celebrating the Sun

Writing this at the time of 2022 Spring Equinox, the arrival of the beautiful sunshine reminds me what a powerful mood booster it is. Together with brilliant blue sky and white fluffy clouds, life suddenly seems better, brighter, full of new beginnings…!
The sunshine offers healing, light and energy – all the components favourable to life as we know it and listed as key values by Solar (Healing | Love | Light | Energy). Humans have recognised these powers since time immemorial… consider the henges of Europe, Stonehenge, Avebury in Wiltshire, UK, or such artefacts as the Nebra Sky Disc which celebrate and honour the movements of sun, moon and stars.

Life is hectic, and finding that time to enjoy natural healing is not always easy, but it is always
rewarding. Fresh air and sunshine are freely available to help bring some positivity into your life, and a spring in your step. If you are lucky enough to have a garden space, have a potter outside and notice the new growth of spring flowers. Visit a local park or green space and notice how the trees are just beginning to show the first signs of coming into bud. The National Trust and English Heritage Centres often have magnificent grounds to spend a whole day – follow the trails, spend time by the waters, treat yourself to something from the tea room.
Your day will be much better for it. If you can share that time with friends or family, that will give an even bigger boost to your mood. We have all been deprived of that interaction with loved ones because of the pandemic and lockdowns, so get back out there and motivate them as well.

Finally, spring weather encourages us to play different music on our sound systems. What music are you playing today? Make a sunny day playlist, and have fun whilst doing it!
For starters, how about the Beatles – Here Comes the Sun? Mr Blue Sky by ELO? Walkin’ on
Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves?
What will you put on your sunny day playlist? Let us know in the comments!
