Focus on Sleep

We know the spiel from medical experts – adults need 7-8 hours every day to function optimally. We all need it but why do so many of us do not feel our sleep is of sufficient quality that we wake up feeling refreshed, alive and ready to face the day? If you are one of those people, read on …

What happens during those hours we sleep, and why is sleep often interrupted or difficult to achieve at all?

During sleep, our brains are incredibly active, much more so than most people would believe. Your mind is busy running through events of the day, creating memories and processing emotions, as well as messaging the release or curtailment of hormones, resetting our bodies, and aiding growth, repair and healing. Being in a sleep state enables the body to repair damage caused by stress, UV rays, other harmful exposure, and general day to day activities.

Stress is one of the major causes of sleep deprivation humans experience. If you are one of the millions of people who awake in the night with intrusive thoughts, worrying about something, you need to address your stress levels. Hypnotherapy is a gentle, relaxing method to lower those stress levels and manage intrusive thoughts. During the very first session, and with subsequent sessions, we will explain how your mind works, and how to improve your sleep. No magic solutions, it still requires commitment from the client.

Breathwork is key as well. As the weeks progress, most clients will see an improvement and will also gain the knowledge and tools to help better manage their own stress levels which impact quality of sleep.
